As a nonprofit organization, you most likely already know about Giving Tuesday and are preparing for it. Giving Tuesday is a great way for current and future donors to balance their crazy Black Friday by giving to charities. We all have a cause we want to support, and this is definitively the time to go all out. Here are some ways to maximize your efforts:
Use social media
This day is all about sharing online! So make sure you make your donors part of it by having social media dynamics or games!
- Make sure to use the hashtag #GivingTuesday on your posts.
- You can also add a hashtag specific to your organization/cause.
- Invite everyone to like, share and comment on your posts!
- You can even create an image they can print and complete a quote that represents them or a sticker they can add to their photos.
- Make a goal and share your progress! Some NPOs collaborate with streamers on this.
Personalize your emails
Personalized emails generate 6x higher transaction rates. Make sure you: add your logo, a thank you note, invite them to donate again, and for extra points, add your social media so donors can click and follow. And since we are talking about #GivingTuesday, incorporate the hashtag!
If you let them know how their previous donations helped your cause, they’ll know they are having an impact and are more likely to donate again!
Make it mobile-friendly
In a world where most of the emails are open on a mobile device, and where social media apps are on trend, you need to make sure that what your donors see will be a good experience on any device they use.
Make donating simple
If the donation process is long and troublesome, the donors might get bored or distracted and decide not to go through with it. Make sure you only ask for what you need. There will be plenty of time later on to build a relationship with your supporters and get more information from them.
Implement Gift Matching
Most top 500 companies offer corporate matching to their employees, and since this time of the year we’re expecting a rise in donations, make sure you have this automated before the day comes. You can raise up to 20% more with little investment. Even Facebook has announced that this year they’ll be matching donations made on their platform, but to maximize this, make sure you’ve added an employer search widget to all your donation pages.
There’s still time, so make sure you have a plan set up to let more people know about how they can help your cause. We are sure that by implementing these strategies, you are sure to raise more in a more easy and efficient way.
